Thompsons Rivers University Students Union Happy One Liberal Candidate Wants To Reduce Students Debt.

The Thompson Rivers University students union say they are not endorsing Moira Stilwell for the BC Liberal Leadership.

But TRUs government relations co-ordinator Krystal Smith says Stilwells pledge to reduce student debt is a positive step.

Smith says debt is a huge issue that is putting huge pressure on students as they enter the workforce.

She says the average student debt in BC is around $27-thousand dollars -- which is bad enough. But with interest, students will actually have to pay off about $38-thousand in debt.

Smith says the students union is non-partisan and is looking forward to hearing more policies from leadership candidates.
